Susie Gabbie is a Consultant Paediatrician, with an extensive NHS practice based at the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead, London.

She qualified in 1996 from Bristol University and rotated through many different hospitals in the South-West of England and then in London. She has worked in numerous clinical areas such as emergency care, neonatal care, and general paediatrics. She spent three years specialising in paediatric oncology as a Senior Trainee, but then felt her future lay in general paediatrics. At home, Susie is a mum of 3 children and has a daily insight into and understands, the worries of both parent and child.

Susie sees children with different general paediatric presentations and enjoys the variety that this presents. She particularly enjoys getting to know children and their families and taking a holistic view to helping families understand their health needs. In her hospital practice, she specialises in children with sleep problems and also is the Named Doctor for Child Safeguarding.

Susie is the Service Lead Paediatrician for the Royal Free Hospital and is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running of a team of 24 Consultants.

She was also the College Tutor looking after 14 trainees at a time and over the 8 years in this role developed new teaching sessions and regular simulation teaching to ensure safe and fluent practice.

She is a Performance Assessor and Assessor Trainer for the General Medical Council, looking into doctors who are struggling and completing assessments for those doctors to make sure that the practice of all doctors in the UK is safe and patient-focused.
